Meet Our Owner

  • Scott Mcilvain

The original Mcilvain Motors was established in 1919 by E.H "Mac" Mcilvain. The business started as a Dodge Brothers dealership and service center in the town of Prescott Arizona. After a few years in business Mac expanded the business to include Chrysler/Plymouth. After many years in business, both Mac's son Joe Mcilvain and Grandson Charles Mcilvain ran the automobile business in the same location in downtown Prescott, Arizona for 87 years. Due to the death of Joe Mcilvain Motors closed in 2006.

The current Mcilvain Motors was founded by Scott Mcilvain, great grandson of E.H "Mac" Mcilvain. Scott was hooked on the family business and performance cars at a very early age. He later left Prescott and attended Arizona State University where he earned a degree in business. It was while Scott was an account manager at a top 25 marketing agency where he fell in love with first PORSCHE, a 1979 930. This 930 lead Scott to a major career change with PORSCHE. Scott was one of twelve students accepted to the prestigious PORSCHE PTAP program after two year of general automotive study. At PORSCHE PTAP Scott received six months of the most intensive and detailed PORSCHE hands on training. After graduating with top of the class honors Scott returned back to Phoenix Arizona where he worked a well-known PORSCHE independent repair facility. Scott then took a great opportunity at one of the best PORSCHE custom build racecar and service centers in the world. Here Scott was the head late model technician, sales manager and head driving instructor. Scott decided that the Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe and other valley cities needed an affordable late model PORSCHE service center and decided to open Mcilvain Motors.

Scott is also a nationally certified driving high performance driving instructor for PCA, NASA and has instructed with SCCA and the local BMW club. Scott has instructed students in all different PORSCHE models and has owned and thoroughly enjoyed many PORSCHE vehicles.

Feel free to give Scott a call or message about your late model PORSCHE needs.

  • I am very meticulous in the care and maintenance of my 2008 911, and there are very few people I trust to even wash it, let alone work on it! Scott at McIlvain Motors is one of those few. I use my Porsche both for every day driving and on the track, as does Scott, so I trust him to tell me what the car needs, and I never wonder if he's selling me something I don't need. Coupled with his rates, going to Scott instead of the dealership is a no-brainer. Thanks Scott!

  • Not only is Scott 'Porsche-trained' but he shows great enthusiasm & integrity towards his work, which cannot be taught, and comes from within. He really loves working on Porsches! I'd happily recommend him to Porsche and non-Porsche friends alike

  • Scott saved me a lot over dealer prices and having him pick up and drop off my Cayenne made it very convenient

  • I just took my 2001 Boxster to Mcilvain Motors for a 60,000 mile service. I called all around town for the best price and found that Mcilvain Motors to be the best. I was very happy with the work that was done on my car and I will be back for sure.

McIlvain performed a very challenging service for me in late 2020. I upgraded the turbochargers and downpipes in my car, which required dropping the entire engine and transmission assembly to do it. Everything went back together flawlessly and at a reasonable cost. I trust them completely with complex repairs.

McIlvain services 2 cars for me. On the Macan S, they did my 30,000 mile service and installed some performance upgrades in 2020. Highly competent and reasonably priced.

If you need someone that is honest, knowledgeable, a Porsche enthusiast and priced lower then others, I would recommend Scott at McIlvain Motors in Tempe. He is an all around GREAT guy and I would not go anywhere else for service of a Porsche.
